The NT$20 coin with a bi-metallic composition was issued in 2001 for the purpose of paying tribute to Taiwan’s indigenous culture and history, and promoting harmony among different ethnic groups in Taiwan. When the coin is turned to the right, a latent image showing the year appears on the lower side of the obverse.
